Minnesota makes electronic bidding mandatory! 1/1/2009
Minnesota Department of Transportation has been offering electronic bidding to their contractors since 2002 as an option to the traditional paper method. Effective January 1, 2009 they will begin requiring all bids over $1,000,000 (One Million Doolars) to be submitted using the "Two way electronic bidding process".
Surety 2000 has been integrated into the electronic bid process since its first offering providing contractors a quick and easy way to submit and verify their bid bonds to MnDOT. Contractors simply register with Surety 2000 then call their current surety agent and request a Surety 2000 electronic bid bond for the project they would like to bid. The agent then accessess Surety 2000's secure website and creates the bond number providing the contractor with the 11-digit bid bond ID. The contractor will then type in the Surety 2000 electronic bid bond number in the electronic bidding system where it will automatically bevverified for accuracy.
Surety 2000 is a paperless process and has revolutionized the way contractors submit bid bonds for projects. In the late 90's Surety 2000 introduced the first electronic bid bond to the market and has become the #1 provider of electronic bid bonds.
